I bought the new iPhone 3GS this weekend. It has got to be the best thing! In preparation for my trip, I downloaded German and Spanish language lessons from iTunes, all for free. Oh yeah! I've studied Spanish so I just need to grease up my rusty skills, but German is completely new to me. I don't have a good ear for it, so I'm struggling. It doesn't help that German is not common in Los Angeles, unlike Spanish. So I used this as an excuse to buy Rammstein from iTunes. Next, Red Lion. All for research, of course.
I also used my iPhone today on my morning jog. There's an app that keeps track of the distance traveled and the pace all through GPS. Yes, Big Brother is watching, but I think my jogging patterns are not the biggest worry of mine as far as privacy is concerned. Well, my running buddies and I jogged 1.2 miles up Beachwood Canyon, the road that leads to the Hollywood sign. Then we jogged back down. Our pace is rather embarrassing...we'll just say there's room for improvement. At least we're doing it, and this is the second run this week. We do it again Friday and Sunday very early. If anyone wishes to join let me know!
Also, today I go to the orthodontist and pick up my new Invisalign things. I had braces as a teen, but lost my retainer. Because my dad is a cheap bastard, he never replaced them. Now, my teeth have shifted and a lower tooth hits the front teeth, causing my upper teeth to chip. Not good. So I had to plunk down 5 grand, yes 5 grand, and get Invisalign. My insurance pays a whole 500 of that. Grrr. The classic wire braces cost exactly the same and are harder to keep clean, so I opted for Invisalign. Duh! Considering this and that my orthodonist was one of 10 docs in the world to be the first to use Invisalign, meaning she has the most experience, it was a no brainer. Anyway, had my dad spent $200 to replace my retainer I'd not be dealing with now. Dad isn't getting a Xmas gift.
