The oil spill combined with hurricane season has me rethinking my summer plans. Guam and Hawaii are loosing there appeal as the 2010 is supposed to be at higher risk this year with more activity.
So, from the information that I have found recently it seems that a problem occurred when the robot went down to saw off the pipe and BP is just kind of hoping that that there will be a clean enough cut to fit a cap on to stop the flow of oil. Unfortunately, they said this this should be taken care of by August which makes me think it could quite possibly be even longer. I can't imagine how much oil will be in the ocean by then..it seems there is no easy or safe way to stop this so my question is...do you think the nuclear option to blow the well up is the way to go? Just the word nuclear gives me anxiety, but I don't know what would be better for the environment in the long run.
