Survived my first week of clinical phase!
And have yet to make too big of a tit outta myself....Well apart from one drastically failed attempt at venepuncture (luckily the registrar was nice, and the patient was pretty much unconcious throughout...), stuttering a half assed answer to a very sweet little old lady about 'why was her heart so big anyway?' (without telling her she was in heart failure), and breaking out in anxiety-induced skin failure (eczema).
Im suprisingly sad to be leaving the ward for acute care training next week; funny nurses, awe inspiring patients (one of which was kind enough to let 6 medical students examine various biological systems on him, becuase (and i quote) " well im not rushing off anywhere am I?"), and fab physicians- more than one of which was mad as a hatter (and very proud of it).
And so to acute care, and, towards the end of the week a shift in that department where fools rush in and on-calls fear to tread: the A and E......
