It seems like you guys proved me wrong in my last journal, which is always nice! Maybe these new digital formats and structures just make it easier and more acceptable for us to be lazy and it's our responsibility to keep making the effort if we want to communicate with each other in fruitful ways. As in don't give in to things? Don't become a slave to structures, don't do what they want you to do. Remember I was rambling about those automated checkouts a few journals back? I was in the supermarket the other day and this really funny, cool guy works there was helping me use the machine and telling me that the robots and machines just need love, that's all.
I went for a short trip to London last week, it was not one of my best ideas because I was feeling as though I needed a break from the intensity of work at the hospital. So I decided to go to the biggest, busiest city in the country at the busiest and hottest time of year? But one beautiful and peaceful moment was in the exhibition of Matisse Cut-outs, which I loved. Here is a picture of him drawing from his bed.
I've decided to start doing the SG homework that @missy and @rambo have set. I think the most recent one is "What is your guilty pleasure?" My answer is that one should not feel guilty about pleasure. Let go of guilt and we will all be a lot happier. I know that wasn't really the aim of the homework question but I think there is a lot of pressure from society to feel guilty about many many things including, food, weight, appearances, sexuality, sex, our relationships and how we should behave in them, responsibilities.... Love what you love and try to do your best, then there shall be no need at all to feel guilty. At school I was a real perfectionist with my homework though, I used to decorate my jotters using the most elaborate techniques. They are quite ridiculous. I think I used to love praise greatly. I'm glad I lost some of my interest in that. I must say, I do think the idea of homework on here is a little bit odd and child-like and I think that is how a large part of society wants women to be. But maybe if we can produce adult answers it will counteract that.
I think next month I'll have a new set in member review. It's been so so long. It will be funny if no one looks at it! It was shot by @gossip in front of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.
And @lavezzaro is working on a set of @janesinner and I which I will tell you about some time.
"From the first, the enchantments of the sky there, the sea, the fish and the coral in the lagoons, plunged me into the inaction of total ecstasy. The local tones of things hadn’t changed, but their effect in the light of the Pacific gave me the same feeling as I had when I looked into a large golden chalice.
With my eyes open I absorbed everything as a sponge absorbs liquid." - Matisse
