Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates.
At the first gate, ask yourself, ‘Is it true?’
At the second ask, ‘Is it necessary?’
At the third gate ask ‘Is it kind?

The quote above doesn't really relate to this journal, I just came across it today and liked it very much. It does make me feel that nothing I'm about to write is really necessary but ah well, it is nice to keep in touch now and then....
I'm very grateful for all the comments you guys left on my last journal, it of course reminded me that the internet can be a wonderful tool for connecting and communicating, that I really appreciate what you all give and have given me and I hope that I can sometimes give something positive through this strange digital medium in return. Moderation is the key in regard to internet usage. I don't think human beings are very good at practicing moderation though.
So the wee cat is dead. She's wrapped in my grandmothers £400 pale blue cashmere cardigan with the gold buttons (that one of the carers shrunk in the wash) and contained and buried in a straw picnic basket in the garden. I cried all day but it was a good sadness in a way. I was actually quite relieved to feel it. I was crying because I loved this little creature who had been in my life for 19 years. That is life. Thanks for all the nice words.
Very beautiful Autumn days here even though I wish it wasn't so cold and wet and windy. The light (when it is there) and the colours are enough to make up for it. I've been making a lot of soup and baking sweet potato and cinnamon cakes and pumpkin pie and wearing 10 cardigans at once. It is a great pleasure to travel through all the different seasons and learn how to adapt to them in order to maintain ones equilibrium. I should post this cake recipe, it's wonderful.
I must remember to take some photographs of the red and golden leaves before they fall.
I hope everyone is well and finding their own ways to adjust to the season. I didn't realise the clocks had gone back today and turned up an hour early for my philosophy class but what a treat to get an imaginary extra hour! x
