Today, along with my beloved, I took a trip to <a href="http://www.tate.org.uk/liverpool/">Tate Liverpool</a> to see the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_and_Dinos_Chapman">Jake & Dinos Chapman</a> exhibition <a href="http://www.tate.org.uk/liverpool/exhibitions/jakeanddinoschapman/guide/default.shtm">'Bad Art for Bad People'</a>. Tate Liverpool is becoming a force to be reckoned with these days - no longer the poor cousin of Tate's <a href="http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/">London</a> & <a href="http://www.tate.org.uk/stives/">St. Ives</a> galleries, it's forthcoming attractions, including the <a href="http://www.tate.org.uk/about/pressoffice/pressreleases/2006/7449.htm">2007 Turner Prize</a>, are many and varied. Anyway, sticking with the present - this showing of the Chapman brothers' best work is proof positive that the Liverpool gallery is able to stand on it's own when it comes to major showings.
I had only ever seen selected Chapman works in the flesh before, so to see a dedicated exhibition was a treat I'd been looking forward to for many months, and I was not disappointed. However many times you see pics of the brothers' work, this does not dilute the impact of seeing it up-close. I am not, and have no desire to be, an art critic so I shall merely say that i enjoyed this immensely, and leave you with pics of a few of my favourite pieces.
