I always get shit about watching the soaps.
And while I'm sitting here trying to find a position to counteract the sharp pain in my tailbone I'm pondering this:
Considering how I would play Barbies as a kid and how I seem to have the ability to retain some that childhood seratonin. You know, those things that make you super happy when your a kid.
BTW- I've been watching Muppet Babies for two weeks straight.
Wouldn't it make sense that I like watching soap operas?
I mean really.
When I playe Barbie. I had a plot that i would just run with.
The last time I played that I can vividly remember was when my cousin Maria and I were in my room with Barbie crap all over my bed and the floor cause we had set up different parts of the room where different Barbies lived. And the plot was something like she had one female doll, I had two. Male and female.
Our girls were best friends and my boy doll was her dolls' boyfriend.
And one day he just snapped and locked them in a basement for months. Her doll would pass out time to time and one particular she had gone into a coma.
So while she was in a coma Maria would get other dolls to come an be nosey and see what was going on, while my girl would try to get help while the boy doll would be out running errands
After a while both my dolls fell in love while Maria's was in the coma.
He gets her pregnant and decides he wants to live a normal life with my girl and their baby, so he lets them both go. And that's all I can remember.
But, is that or is it not a soap plot?
And this craziness is comming out of a 7, 8 year old girl.
So I was thinking isn't watching soap operas, particularly the really over the top ones (Passions. Days. That other one, with the vampires?), just like watching two retarded little girls play Barbie? Only walking, talking, and moving all on their own?
They are always beautiful, always extravagant, always in trouble, and always super over the top.
I just finished watching Passions and I was just thinking to myself that I could almost see the serial numbers on the back of their necks and the mold seams on the side of their legs.
I think that's why I love the Sims so much.
I've always had fantasies, even as a little girl, to have little people I could control.
I was talking real people, Barbie sized, that I could have as pets and dress them up. For the most part do what I want, but of course they would have some sort of autonomy so it would be so boring.
Yeah. Even as a wee one there was a method to my madness.
