well i guess we are having a get together on new years eve nothing big but stll something im leary of doing. I guess i should explain why . 2001 I was working as a psychiatric nurse life was crazy. I never had any time to be social i worked these strange random shifts like 12 hours on 2 hours off and 8 hours on so i was a little out of my head. Anyways we said hey lets throw a big new years bash. Went out and bought a bunch of stuff to make irish car bombs (the drinks) . a bunch of good friends showed up we had a great time. I was on a mission to ensure everyone there was falling down piss drunk and all was very very well. Well 4 am rolls around and i had just spent the last hour hugging the toilet.Hehe funny how even that can be looked on fondly. anyways i strip down crawl into bed and within a half hour i am awoken by a police officer with a flashlight in my face and a gun drawn. once i focus and half way figure out what is going on i ge tout of bed get dressed and walk into my living room which is full of random half drunk people wo were jsut woken up the same way except not naked. at this point the polie launch into this mountain of questions like who is she blah blah blah we know someone here did it blah blah blah . I ask what the hell they are talking about and he opens my front door to reveal that thewre is blodd covering almost the entire door and the majority of my porch. long story short after going through everyone who was at the party and 4 hours of questions it is determined what happened.
1. someone dropped a bottle of the captain on the prch which broke.
2. some random stranger and her boyfriend broke up on new years eve while driving by my house.
3. random girl got mad got out of the car at my house and came beating on my door.
4. random girl gave up on life and slashed her wrists with a broken rum bottle.
5. found a new respect for life frantically tried to get in my house door and window then traveled accross the street to do the same there.
Any ways long story short was a pretty messe dup prty swore never again
this one wont be so big though so not too worried.
well im back to work happey new year everyone and i thought i would share something i found posted on brightons journal and i wanted share.
We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another.
Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough
and we'll be more content when they are.
After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.
We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire.
The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now.
If not now ... when?
Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Alfred D Souza ...
"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin.
But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time ... and remember that time waits for no one ...
So stop waiting until you finish school ... until you go back to school ... until you lose ten pounds ... until you gain ten pounds ... until you have kids ... until your kids leave the house ... until you start work ... until you retire ... until you get married ... until you get divorced ... until Friday night ... until Sunday morning ... until you get a new car or home ... until your car or home is paid off ... until spring, until summer ... until fall ... until winter ... until you are off welfare ... until the first or fifteenth ... until your song comes on ... until you've had a drink ... until you've sobered up ... until you die ... until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy ...
Happiness is a journey ... not a destination!!
Thought for the day:
"Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching."
