Fri 27 April: Freedom Day (to commemorate this country's 1st democratic elections in 1994)
Tues 1 May: Worker's Day (a day of worldwide solidarity for the labour movement. The American Federation of Labour adopted a historic resolution which asserted that "eight hours shall constitute a legal day's labour from & after May 1st, 1886".)
