I am sooo sick & fucking tired of being fat. I have just seen some pics of myself taken at a friend's braai (BBQ) over the weekend, & I wanted to die of shame. Granted they were of the disgusting drunken variety - totally unflattering - but there is absolutely no hiding the fact that I have gained a LOT of weight over the past 5 years
When I moved up to Johannesburg from Durban in May 2002, I weighed 64kgs & wore a size 34. I could, & DID, prance around nightclubs in corsets, hotpants & a pair of killer heels. But you'd really struggle to believe that looking at me now I currently weigh 74kgs & have to buy a size 38
It's my 33rd birthday in 5 months time & I am DETERMINED to shed those 10 "Jo'burg kilos" by then. It'll mean having to give up beer completely (a HUGE part of my "growing girth" problem is my love affair with Heineken), & cutting down on takeaways.
Speaking of big bellies, my good mate, Ronwen, gave birth to a strapping young lad in the UK this morning He has been named Leo, which I absolutely adore! I am sooo happy & excited for her, even though this little bundle of joy was completely unplanned. She & her fianc, Colin, emigrated to the UK last year, soon after they found out she was pregnant. She is the only other human being I know who loves Patricia Cornwell novels as much as I do! I miss her loads
Still on the topic of friends, two weeks ago we said our farewells to another good mate, Jennifer, who's relocated herself & her 2 kids to Cape Town. Gonna miss her, too She was always up for a party & proved herself to never be anything short of awesome company.
Next weekend (Easter), our long-time mates, Derrick & Sarah-Jane, are coming up from Durbs for a much-needed break. The last time we saw them was down there over Xmas / New Year.
This Saturday we're going to Red Room to help the lovely Diaz celebrate her 25th birthday. Should be a goodie
Love & hugs to you all. Wish me luck with the weight-loss programme!! I need as much motivation as possible...
