Okay, people, I'm rather pissed off
Yesterday I found out that I've been banned from tagging for the next 3 months. My crime: adding the word "explicit" to sets which I consider to have crossed the boundaries of erotic art & have entered the realm of porn. As far as I'm concerned, when words like "anus, butthole, clit, fingering, pornographic, starfish etc" start entering the tagging equation (all added by other members, BTW - not me), well, then I believe I am justified in my opinion.
So where DO we draw the line between erotic art & porn? It's a highly contentious issue, one which can be debated for decades. For me, however, the difference is quite simple: seeing the external bits versus the internal bits
When it comes to a woman, there is nothing more titillating than a tasteful photograph showing her soft, feminine curves - the 3 B's if you will: Boobs, Beetle bonnet & Bum
As soon as I feel like I should be giving her a Pap smear or a colonoscopy exam, well, then THAT for me, boys 'n girls, becomes porn
The same way there is a fine line between erotic art & porn, so too is there a fine line between good ink & bad ink. In my opinion, anything above the collar or below the cuff is a complete no no. As for the rest of the body, it's all systems go.
A prime example of crossing that line is our lovely Amina's latest tattoo. Now don't get me wrong - she always has been, & probably always will be, one of the most beautiful & inspiring SGs ever. (I even spoiled myself to one of these gorgeous limited edition prints, by Lesley Slenning - signed by both photographer & model)
...I think it's going to look FAB framed & hung in our new house!
I was, however, alarmed & dismayed to see the latest addition to Amina's growing collection of tattoos. With this jaw-line piece I think she has taken things a little too far
Oh, & there is also the issue of actual subject matter. Now I don't know how many of you remember a SG by the name of Shera? Well, at the time I joined the site (Nov 05), she was one of my favourites. She (along with a whole bunch of others) was subsequently booted off SG for joining rival site, GodsGirls, & re-named herself Catra.
The thing is, I'm not sure how you lot feel about public displays of affiliation towards things like Satanism or Neo-Nazi'ism, but I personally found her rapid transformation from fairly innocent SG to badass GG quite a sad & disturbing one
In case you were wondering, the GG pic was saved during my 3-month membership to their site sometime late last year. (I wanted to see if the grass was greener on the other side, & I can assure you guys it was not).
Anyway, I guess that's it from me for now. This has been one of my most frank blog entries to date. I have no doubt it's going to raise a few hackles, but at the end of the day, this is supposed to be a democratic site for open-minded types & my hope is that it raises some healthy public debate.
Oh, & for all you sneaky energy vampires out there who read everyone's blogs but never leave any comments - do me the courtesy of adding a few words if you've read this far. Thx
