I don't know why, but I've been feeling kinda strange lately - on edge, & very anti-social Yesterday afternoon, after watching "Neat" on the Home Channel, I did a MAJOR purge of my wardrobe, & that helped ease my anxiety somewhat. But today I'm back to feeling weird again. Maybe it's got to do with the fact that I'm really busy with work at the mo (which I s'pose is not a bad thing when you run your own business; it's when things are quiet that you should really worry), &/or the fact that the building of our house has come to a grinding halt while we wait for the bank to release the first progress payment & for all the bricks to be delivered. Whatever it is that lurks at the core of my current restless state of being, well, I just hope it comes to pass, & sooner rather than later. I really need to feel focused & at ease again, especially if I want to be productive with my magazine writing. As any creative person will tell you, if your mind is all over the show like a wired grasshopper, it's extremely difficult to settle into a comfy mode & produce your best work...
Anyway, enough of my crooked mental condition On Saturday morning I finally got to see pix from the Romanian Orthodox baptism Lee & I went to last weekend. The 1st one below is of little Luca, barely 4 weeks old, & one of the cutest little things I have ever seen! Hopefully he'll turn out to be just as awesome as his dad, Julian (Lee's business partner), seen talking his head off in the 2nd pic
On Saturday afternoon we went through to Vodaworld in Midrand where I chose my upgrade handset - a Samsung D900. The Motorizr I had thought I would want turned out to be quite disappointing in the flesh. Saturday night we ended up watching "The People vs Larry Flynt" on telly. It was one of those movies I had been meaning to see for YEARS, & we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Yesterday we met my sister-in-law & my little nephew, Aidan, for breakfast at the Brightwater Commons (ex Randburg Waterfront). They are out from the UK on holiday at the mo. Aidan is possibly one of the most gorgeous kids I've ever seen (a real "chocolate box beauty"), but fuck what a handful he is After the 2-&-a-half hours we spent together with "Curious George" (this child is VERY demanding & he just wants to explore & experiment with everything!), Lee & I were totally & utterly exhausted. And I have decided once & for all that there is simply NO WAY that I am ready for kids of my own, & I really, seriously doubt I ever will be. I honestly don't know how the hell all the parents out there do it - where on earth they find the energy & patience!?! They really are complete saints, if you ask me!!!
On that note, I guess I'll be loving & leaving ya. Hope you all have yourselves a great week ahead. Don't forget to leave your comments. They are always appreciated
PS. While I was at Lee & Julian's factory on the weekend, I showed Julian the pix in my previous blog entry of a 47-year-old Siouxsie Sioux taken in late 2004 & asked him to guess who she was. He thought she was my MOTHER, ha ha!! When I told him it was Siouxsie, he had no idea who I was talking about. I was floored He's always professed to being a big fan of Rock, & being decidedly "alternative looking", I had just assumed he had grown up listening to the same music we had. The thing is, he grew up in Bucharest, the capital of Romania (he only moved to South Africa 3 years ago), & their exposure to music was obviously somewhat limited under Communist rule, up until the real birth of their democracy in 1990. When I asked if he knew of my other all-time favourite band, The Cure, & was very relieved to find out that, yes, indeed he did (he even went on to name a few of their popular songs), I was still stumped by the bizarre Siouxsie issue. She & The Banshees must've been more underground in the 80s than I had originally thought. But even freakier than all this was when I actually sat down & thought about our age difference - Siouxsie was already 17 by the time I was born - which means that she IS, in fact, old enough to be my mother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
