This week I joined MySpace AND paid for my first official online banner ad! Click here to check it out.
The banner appears on the site of a local fashion industry networking company, called Blueprint Mag. The next stop for me to market my agency is on this bloke's RIVAL company's website, iFashion. Both owners were at fashion school together (LISOF) - in the same class, no less! I don't care much for their petty squabbles really; I'm just hoping that my little marketing effort generates a bit of interest & results in a decent ROI...
I've also just compiled a very comprehensive database of all the major fashion designers in the local industry, details of which have been sourced from a variety of places ('resourceful' is my middle name, baby!) My next step is to contact each & every one of these people / companies in my directory, & offer them my services (fresh new faces for the upcoming season!)
The reason I actually joined MySpace (dunno why, but I was so anti it for such a long time ), is to find out how the whole thing works & why it's such a worldwide phenomenon. Marie Claire has commissioned me to write an investigative piece on MySpace & MXit, & how access to this kind of technology is affecting the social & sex lives of our teens - both positively & negatively. I've been told that my Wash 'n Blow story (the one on the kinky car wash!) will be published in the May issue, & they now want to do a photoshoot to accompany the story - of me pseudo-seductively washing a car - in my SWIMSUIT, no less!! In a moment of madness I agreed & they said that they will pay me a half-day model rate. So never mind all those MTAs (model turned actresses) - here comes the first JTM (journo turned model)
My lip is looking / feeling really crusty & gross at the mo Permanent makeup takes a shitload longer to heal than a normal tattoo elsewhere on one's body, that I can tell you! Lee went to his cousin Chantal's place in Lonehill for her husband's birthday braai (BBQ) this afternoon / evening, but I'm still hiding away from the world. I ain't going ANYWHERE till this damn thing is 100% healed!! But at least I'm getting a LOT of work done (both on the research/writing side of things AND with the marketing of my agency), which is certainly not a bad thing. Tomorrow I need to tidy this bloody home office, though. It's in a complete shambles again , & I'm one of those people who really struggles to be completely productive when my working environment is in a mess.
I'm going to watch some telly now (it's not often I get the couch to myself )
