On Saturday Lee & I went through to Sandton City to get our cars washed & have brunch. I then went on to spent the budget of a small country on a truckload of high-end cosmetic products I've been needing / wanting for a while now, plus a book from Exclusive Books about adoption in South Africa, called "Thicker Than Water". After that Lee went through to work & I carried on to The Zone in Rosebank, where I picked up the most gorgeous Miss Moneypenny boobtube dress in vintage fabric from The Space, & a stunning 50s-style one-piece swimsuit from Sun Goddess. So it looks like I'm going to have to do some serious tightening of the purse strings till the big "Hellraiser" party at Zeplins on Sat 25th
Tomorrow after work I am going to see Shane (the MD of the model agency I've been telling you lot about) at his home in Parkhurst, to discuss our joint business venture further. He & Paul (the Communications Director) don't yet know that I've already handed in my notice at Media24, as I was originally only planning on doing so on 1st Dec.
My last day at work will be Fri 24th Nov, which also happens to be our division's Xmas party - a braai (BBQ) from 1pm onwards - so it should be a good day all round
Just after that, I've booked myself into a 3-day Magazine Journalism workshop in Parktown from 27-29th Nov, which is costing me an arm & a leg (R3,300), but which I am really looking forward to & am hoping will give me the edge in getting myself published
Other than that, life is pretty unexciting at the mo. Socially, we're laying low for a while. Nothing much happening on that front. Work is as hectic as usual, & having to share an office with a world-class chatterbox certainly isn't conducive to meeting one's deadlines I MUCH preferred working on my own. The past 19 months of having my own office & doing my own thing were complete bliss. Possibly the most productive ones of my life. Through my work, I have helped make the company MILLIONS in advertising revenue. Every time I open one of our magazines & see an ad I played a pivotal role in securing through my research & marketing proposals, it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. It's probably gonna feel kinda weird leaving this money-making machine behind. But I must say, I am champing at the bit to get started on my new career, at which I am equally determined to succeed! One of my over-riding Life philosophies is "Do something right, or don't bother doing it at all."
On that note, I'm guess it's time for me to be loving & leaving ya. Here's wishing for you all a fabulous week ahead. Can you believe there are only 7 more weeks till Xmas
PS. Don't you just love Placebo's video for the title track of their latest albumn, "Meds" ?! I saw it on MTV the other day. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour & look out for it. It's fucking excellent
