Christ, my baby sister-in-law is getting married today...to a WOMAN And she's not even gay!!
Yup, after exhausting every possible avenue in an effort to extend her visa in the UK, this was her last possible option. Kinda sad, really, that she has had to resort to such drastic measures Oh, well, it's her life. I just hope that she & her friend (an ex-Aussie chick who now holds a British passport) don't have a fallout in the next 4 years & everything ends up going pear-shaped. As liberal as I may be in my thinking on several issues, I guess I'm still quite a traditionalist, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. I don't have a problem with gay marriages - as long as they are genuine & built on love. What I suppose I do have a problem with is fake marriages, ones based on pseudo commitment, for some kind of gain.
Oh, fuck, listen to me, I'm such a cynical old cow! I've been in a really bitchy mood these past couple of days. I dunno what it is...I'm not even menstrual Guess it's time I took a chill pill & learned to be more tolerant - of computer programmes fucking out on me, & of people doing seemingly silly things to get ahead in life...*sigh*
We have recently made friends with another married couple, Michal & Michelle, who moved up to Jo'burg from Durbs a few month's ago. They were introduced to us by our good mates, Derrick & Sarah-Jane, at the last VNV Nation concert at Zeplins in Pretoria, if I am not mistaken. Michal now DJs on the EBM dancefloor at the same club on Saturday nights, & his sets are always freaking AMAZING. Anyway, tomorrow night we're going to dinner with them - Michal & Michelle - & another mate, Andrew, who is currently in town on business. My dear friend, Azzura, suggested we try a place called Icon in Greenside, but after toying with the idea a bit, & reading a brief review, I came to the conclusion that what I am REALLY in the mood for is one of Manhattan Grille's fillet steaks done to sizzling perfection, smothered in their trademark blue cheese & vodka sauce, with decadently creamy garlic mashed potato on the side...YUMMM They have two branches - one in Cresta, the other in Craighall. We always go to the former...although it's in a shopping centre (admittedly not our favourite for restaurants), the decor is much better
My new friend, Michelle. Doesn't she have an amazing smile
And then on Saturday night we're going to ANOTHER restaurant (no wonder my waistline just continues expanding!!), called Schwabing, in Ferndale for another mate, Natasha's, birthday celebrations. Looking forward to seeing them & their crazy cronies again

Yeah, sure, Monty may well be better suited to the more aggro style of NASCAR racing, but you CANNOT dispute the fact that F1 will be a duller sport without him

Did it work?
