with this girl's work. Her name is Caroline Vos & she is a freelance illustrator based in Cape Town, South Africa. I really want to commission her to design something in the same style for my Edge Models home page. She has, however, built up quite an impressive local client base, so I am really praying that I can afford her fees...*gulp*...

Have just received a quote from Caroline. She is only available from May 15th (fine by me, as I am only planning on officially launching the site in June / July anyway), it'll take her approximately 4 days, & will cost in the region of R4,000 (664 USD or 374 GBP or 541 EUR).
I'm still waiting to hear back from my potential investor. If he doesn't pull through for me (I'm still holding thumbs that he will!), then I'm seriously considering taking out a personal loan. I don't need terribly much - just enough to get the website looking nice & sweet (which would include Caroline's artwork), with some funds in reserve to be able to pull off a decent launch campaign, eg. a couple of banner ads on industry sites & some print ads in trade magazines. Most of my marketing will be direct: phonecalls & emails to clients &/or doing my proposal presentation to them over lunch or drinks.
As soon as there are some funds available, I'll give Caroline the go-ahead on the commission. Let's hope it's sooner than later! Watch this space...
