Have just come back from a nice Newswcafe lunch with hubby. We are both extremely quiet at work at the mo.
Had a great long weekend. Kicked it off with the Teknotribe party @ Songwriters Club, Newtown (next door to Fuel Bar) on Thursday night. After about an hour, we were dragged off to DCM (Don't Cry Mama) - a gay club in Braamfontein - by our mates, Lara & Mervin. (It's basically a revamped version of the old GASS / Therapy venue, which we always really liked). After a night of serious decadence & debauchery, we ended up at their place at about 6:30am. And after watching South Park on their new PVR, we slept in their housemate, Brian's, bedroom (he's in PE at the mo) right through till 5 in the afternoon!
Saturday night we went to Nick & Natasha's for a nice, intimate dinner party (she made us her famous Greek lasagne), followed by a stint at Red Room in Honeydew. It was far too hot inside (they really need to jack up their air-con), & waaay too over-crowded for our liking, so we were home by about 12:30am.
Yesterday we met our architect, Marc, & our civil engineer, Rienk, on site in Northcliff - where we'll be building phase 1 of our dream home in 2006. It's funny how we've ended up with 2 Dutch guys working on our house! Anyway, it hopefully looks like we won't have to worry about doing steel pilings before we start building, but just to be on the safe side, we've decided to hire some casual labour to do a handful of test digs anyway.
Oh, got a rough quote from the cosmetic surgeon & it's going to cost anywhere between R20,000 & R26,000 to fix my breasts the way I want them. So I guess that idea goes out the window for the forseeable future
Other than that, life is looking pretty peachy all round. Off to a 24-hour braai / party at a friends' place in Sandton (Jon & Jennifer), with a whole bunch of their mates on Xmas & Boxing Day. And for New Year's Eve we'll be joining another gang of peeps (incl. Warren & Yolanda) at a bash back at Lara & Merv's house. Inbetween all this socialising, I'm looking forward to doing some reading, some suntanning, & just some general pottering around the house.
Till next time

With the insane War on Drugs here in the USA, they have all but killed the club scene, and New York is deaddeaddead. Nevermind New Jersey - which has always been the heartloand of the Bon Jovi style rockers .. but I digress.
Just mention of clubs like GASS, has me pining for the great parties at ESP in the late 90's when I was still in Joburg. Sundays at ESP must have been the hardest party anywhere on the planet on a Sunday.
*wistful sigh*
