Can I Have My Normal Life Back?

Not one, not two, but FIVE police officers recommended I check pawn shops for the stolen items in my car (like my Moxi roller skates). Today I found out from a pawn shop that everything pawned in Oregon is put into a 30-day hold to cross-reference it with stolen items in police reports so, essentially, the police didn't want to sit down and itemize what was stolen in the police report which would be the only way for me to recover it.

Then I came home to a ripped-open box addressed to me with a note from my neighbor that they found it empty on their lawn. So now I've been dealing with Amazon for the last 2 hours trying to determine if any other packages were stolen (i.e. gifts from my wishlist; if you sent me something and I haven't said thank you, this is probably why). I got a PO Box and all my mail will be going there from now but I am still super drained by all this. Oh, and I'm still having issues with my bank and my insurance related to the theft and that's how I spent the first 3 hours of my day.

Then, because this is the lame event that never ends, the appointment I had to detail my car trying to reschedule and then tried to claim I was outside of their "range" (I was not, I explicitly confirmed that before I had scheduled with them) and they would have to charge me another $30 on top of the $140 I had already paid for the appointment. This of course led to another hour on the phone demanding, and eventually receiving, a refund.

I'm still beyond grateful my car was found and I was shown so much support by people but I am freaking drained emotionally, financially, and time-wise from this event. I feel like every day for the lastt 3 and half weeks has been spent on dealing with this issue and consequences thereof. I want to get back to my normal life! I want to create some cool shit and interact with my peoples!

I just want this whole thing to be in the past already!

Thanks you guys for listening to me bitch and moan. I appreciate having the outlet.

This kind of thing is why I go red whenever I hear someone say some tragedy's not a big deal because you're insured.  And why decent customer (and governmental) service is so important.  Yeah, the wait on the phone or the extra thing to sign or whatever is not big deal in isolation, but it all piles up so quickly.

Get a dobro and start Busking the Blues: "If it wasn't for bad luck, wouldn't have no luck at all". Check out Reverend Dayton's Big Damn Band "one more thing" and "We Deserve A Happy Ending". May the streak end while you can enjoy the respite.
