Today is considered to be the biggest shopping day of the year, "black Friday" as it is known by retail employees; euphemistically referred to as "Green Friday" by industry management and executives.
I call it bullshit. People stay in your warm homes and be with your families. If I could that's what I would do. I did all my shopping on-line this year. ALL OF IT. I don't really feel the need to wait in line at 5:00 am to get a bargain on some piece of low end crap that all the big retailers have stockpiled to get yo into their box.
Question is, why do so may people do this? Are these customers really not Abel to see this for what it really is? If the retailers aren't making money off the crap they are pedaling to you as "door buster" specials, then they are most certainly going to make money off you in some other way. Realistly, you don;t have much of a choice. You waited in line ostensibly, to get a "gift". Well let me tell you, that gift will probably end up causing your loved ones nothing but grief if you don't buy all the crap that the retailers push on you.
So, you got a notebook computer for $300.00. Great. If the store offers a service contract with it, you better get it. I know your mentality, "it's only a couple hundred dollars... I'll get a new one." You all know that's bullshit too. It was a gift, which means if the person you are buying it for does come to enjoy or depend on it, they are going to have to buy a new one. I don't see you re-purchasing a comparable piece of equipment two years down the road if this one fails. I'm sure it will need a bunch of accessories to work properly, or at least to get the most out of it. Once again, it was a gift. I know, I know, "this is a gift .. they can get the accessories themselves." Nice, so your gift is going to cost someone money? So what you are really giving them is debt so they can have some functionality or some entertainment that YOU thought they should have?!? you so rock. I hate you.
I don't hate the stores as much as I hate the customers. The retail chains represent pure simple greed. A desire to profit. As loathesome as that may be it makes sense. It makes daollars. That's what stores are for. This explains all their behavior. I can't relate to the customers. Thank you for giving my employer a reason to pay me. But really, what was the point of og etting out of bed that early to spend money?
