What do you know, The Steelers won.
I suppose I should admit that my issue is not with the team, but rather with some of the fans. i 'm not a kid ... I've been around a while and I clearly remember steelers football when i was young.
Remember the onslaught of marketing around the time of the fourth super-bowl win? remember the terrible brick? it was a foam rubber brick you could throw at the tv after a bad call.
"The quarterback Sack" a lesser known Steelers artifact hat briefly went hand in hand with the terrible towel, was a gym bag.. ever seen on? no? I own one.
Ever had Dinner with Myron Cope? i have. (at a function, not at his house)
I'm not technically from Pittsburgh so i am not pretending to be a "fan-boy" but, like a bad cinematic version of a favorite childhood tv show; over exuberant fans buying every possible steelers nick nack make me feel like my memories are being bastardized for a buck.
Every time I hear some 18 year old say "one for the thumb" it's like raping my childhood. No Steeler on the current roster has four super bowl rings. Those guys are in retirement now. so, this is not the fulfillment of a legacy, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in Pittsburgh Football.
Congratulations Pittsburgh. You earned it, not because some promise was made to Steeler Fans thirty some years ago, but because you played hard this season.
