Alright, so tonight was my game, along with the lovely lady. She dove right into the story, jumping headlong into the roleplaying, and did her best not to point out my less than ingenious video game references.
The game ends, and we're just sitting there, talking idle things. When finally, I get up the nerve to ask her for coffee. She smiled. And not just the normal sort of smile, but the, "I was waiting for you to ask," sort. "I'd love to," she said lightly.
And the conversation continues, until the point when she had to leave (the tyrant that made her have to work mornings will pay). As we part ways, we hug, and she gives me a kiss on the cheek.
At least, that's how I wish it went.
Truth be told, I never got up the courage to even breach the topic. Granted, she didn't stick around after the game (in fact, we had to end so she could get enough sleep for work).
And during the night's activities, a strange yet unnerving thought crossed my mind. What if I ask her, and she says no? I'd hate to cast a shroud of awkwardness over the game, or worse, lose the best roleplayer my game has known. Is it possible to recover from a situation like that?
I really do like her. Perhaps that's why I'm so nervous about this.
