Well it depends on what course, it's usually in the brochure for the uni and you can usually ask them
Is it a bachelors (Bsc/BA) or Masters (Msc/MA), because that usually depends. Bachelors usually have large classes for the fundamental classes but for the optional classes the sizes are usually much more smaller. Hope that helps

Heh heh, I still remember learning about the civil war in England and how it was considered terribly bad form that Cromwell started a battle early!
