NOT a happy bunny today; got abused verbally by an intolerant bigot because I was unable to answer his question.
As a person with severely impaired hearing, I wear a hearing aid in the one ear that still has some residual hearing. In town, when the traffic is very heavy, I frequently take it out to reduce the oppressive noise.
Consequently, i can't hear human talk either. However, it takes seconds to reinsert the hearing aid.
Was waiting at a bus stop when some tourist asked me for directions; I barely got the words; "Sorry I can't hear you . . " out, when he went ape-shit! I was about to say, . . "but if hang on a second I'll put my hearing aid in, and be glad to help you".
He was abusive, called me names, upset some little old ladies also waiting at the bus stop and stomped off.
I wish now I had decked him one, but that would have frightened the old dears even more.
People!! Please show disabled people a bit more respect and some patience !! :-(
