My new regime starts here: am going to try and type something every day (ish!!) :-)
Just in from work - gone 9pm; was "IN" by 7:20am. Long day!! The word is knackered.
Being deaf means any meetings or dialogue requires me to concentrate extra hard, so it can be a struggle. Any sensory depravation (unless you choose it in your "games!) is difficult. Being born without one must be tough, but losing one late in life (I'm honest, I am 56) is equally challenging. For a start, all my friends and acquaintances are of the "hearing world" - what use is learning to sign (BSL = Sign Language) to me? Who the fuck am i going to talk to? Lip reading is difficult too. Lighting, peoples faces, etc., all present challenges.
I went deaf suddenly; literally overnight. Nothing heroic like a war would, or a bomb or something. Just a horrid little virus. That was nearly 3 years ago, and it made some significant difference to how i see the world and how the world sees me.
I am patronised, ignored, excluded, pitied or shouted at; fortunately, i am also a large, ugly bastard, so I can - at least - defend myself; but should I have too?
I welcome feedback - though I expect, once again, i am talking to myself. :-) xx

Hai Dad xD I know lip reading sucks. I have some deaf and partially deaf in my family so I am very familiar with it. I am sorry you got saddled with this. Subtitles are you friend!! I am jealous of your holiday break you wrote about on my blog. You work at night? ugh I work early in the daytime and prefer it that way. Well nice to see ya around
Take care xD
