maybe this is a little weird to do this in an e-mail. maybe tomorrow i'll work on a phone tree. i'm home now at 1:30 am and it seems like the quickest was to disseminate info.
jet was hospitalized friday nite. she stopped breathing, we dont know why or for how long - tho we dont think for too long, we got to bellevue ER really fast, thanks to 2 fabulous cops.
its been touch and go since then, but we are hopeful. initially they want to figure out what caused this episode and they think it may shed light on the bigger picture problem - her low muscle tone. i thought i'd have more info by today, but many tests take a long time for results or to read.
she was intubated for the first 18 hours, they took the tube out for 24, but she developed a lung infection from the initial intubation and she was working sooo hard to breathe, they put the tube back in.
now the primary thing is to get rid of the lung infection, they'll take the tube out and we'll see how it goes.
it seems she was after seizures (at least after the incident) so she is taking phenobarbital. she has more tests tomorrow. she is resting comfortably now, even though it looks awful
ian and i are in the hospital in shifts. we have to figure out a visitor schedule, because it does lift out spirits - but jet is only allowed 2 at once and we are the two, so it takes a little juggling.
i'm a little too tired to go on writing. suffice to say we are up and down many times each day. feel free to call, but my phone is often off and i'm not returning all calls, please dont take it personally. we appreciate all good thoughts and prayers and maybe i'll write again when it is my turn to sleep here next in a couple days
ugh
i ate too much ice cream tonight - havent done that in a few weeks.
wave and i just got back from a weekend of the country. we took a train there and back
train rides are fun.
its one of my pet peeves that the train system in this country is so dysfuntional. if i were king or had a spare trillion dollars i would straighten out the infrastructure. there should be fast passenger trains between all major cities. Freight should travel by train and not by road driven by truckers who work for not enough money and have to drive way too many hours.
thats all
I ate too much pizza tonight. I haven't done that in a few months
It's good to see you on here.
I had a RSV baby and i just remember it all being such a blur. beep, buzz, ding, knock....ahhhhhh
I can't say that I have ever been on a memorable train. I think I should try it some time.
