So I was browsing through photo sets earlier today and discovered something unsettling. Some one, or several some ones, tagged 12 different sets with the word Ugly. I couldn't believe it. How could somebody be so disrespectful; so crass. It must take a great deal of courage for many of these girls to disrobe for these pictures, knowing that hundreds, if not thousands of people will see them at their most vulnerable. And then some one has the gall to call them out publicly and tear them down with such a hateful word. But it gets worse. After discovering this I searched for the word "Fugly". For those of you who don't know, fugly is a shortened version of the insult "fucking ugly". Four sets were tagged with this. All four were hopefuls. Imagine how these women, who were probably nervously and anxiously waiting to see the public response to their first photo set, felt when they saw that they were branded as fugly. One of the things I love about SG is that they give women who don't fit society's mold for beauty an opportunity to show that beauty its self isn't a mold, and it can be found in many diverse forms. We as members should respect that. We should also remember that there is a real person behind those pictures, and she has feelings. Have some respect for her even if you don't find her to be attractive.
