Mayan Chocolate Sparklers a Cookie Recipe
Seriously. These are like the best sex you ever had in a bite sized cookie.
Eat them when they are right from the oven the burns are worth it!
Mayan Chocolate Sparklers
Prep time: 60min Baking time: 10min each dozen Makes: 5 dozen Freezing: Excellent
Topping
1/2 cup (125ml) sugar
1 tsp (5ml) cinnamon
Cookies
3/4 cup (175ml) shortening
1/2 cup (125ml) butter, softened
3/4 cup (175ml) granulated sugar
3/4 cup (175ml) brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups (425ml) all purpose flour
1 1/4 cups (300ml) cocoa powder
1 tbsp (15ml) cinnamon
2 tsp (10ml) baking soda
1/4 tsp (1ml) pepper
pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
1 cup (250ml) semi-sweet chocolate chips (mandatory)
Preheat oven to 350*C (180*F). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Combine sugar and cinnamon for topping and set aside.
Beat shortening, butter, and sugars until creamy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add the next 6 ingredients, mixing until incorporated. Stir in Chocolate chips.
Roll in 1 (2.5cm) balls, dont flatten. Roll balls in cinnamon and sugar topping. Place on prepared cookie sheets, about 2 (5cm) apart.
Bake 8 10 minutes. Cookies should still be soft in the centre. Let cool on baking sheet for 3 5 minutes. Remove and let cool on a wire rack.
