So I've been kinda out of it this week. But it's been productive and introspective. There were great events at my college this week, discussing the need to counter white supremacy, and how the concept of whiteness must be criticized in being inextricably linked to exclusion. Talking about things is one thing, but changing things is another. Changing the kind of racism here in America takes constantly looking into ourselves and learning to see the ways we contribute to exclusion. But talking about it was a start. I encourage all students in historically white colleges and universities to stimulate dialogues about diversity and racism in their school community. Without our constant consciousness, words, and actions this country will continue it's racist legacy.
