well, it's been a while since i updated, so here goes...
i've come back to playing World Of Warcraft again, it's a lot better now than it was almost a year ago when i originally quit playing. they've worked out a lot of the bugs & other issues. i'm in a great guild now on a different server than i was before, and i actually feel like the goals i have in the game are finally attainable.
i've decided to grow a mohawk, not sure how long i will let it get. i've kinda wanted to grow one for a long time, since wayyyyy back in the day when Pantera's "Cowboys From Hell" video came out on MTV, and Phil Anselmo had the "floppy" mohawk. i've just never really gotten around to it, mainly because i was concentrating on keeping all my hair long....but now that i've had my hair cut short for a while, i can try it out and decide on whether or not i like it, and if not, i can just buzz it all off again really easy, and don't really have to worry about re-growing all that hair.
i installed a new shifter in my car, it's a Pro 5.0 with a Lou's Short Stick shifter handle....it feels so much better, a lot more precise than the stock Hurst shifter, a lot shorter throw, and i don't have to worry about hurting my transmission now when i'm banging through the gears, cause it has stop bolts in it that prevent the shifter from travelling too far and causing damage. about the only thing i don't like about it is the fact that it is noisier than the stock one...not so much because of the shifter itself, but because i cut the rubber boot that surrounded the stock one and pushed it down around the base of the shifter, so it would prevent dust/dirt from getting in there and causing it to wear out quicker.
i'm kinda sad now, tho, cause it's summertime. i handle/enjoy the cold a whole lot better than the heat (pretty ironic, since i was born/raised in TX). also, summertime means i have to mow the lawn a whole lot more often than in the winter, which makes it even worse, because it's a push-mower type lawn....doesn't make economical sense to have a riding mower for such a small lawn. and to top it off, it's only going to get hotter & hotter for the next several months.....
at least there is an up-side to it being summertime, and that's the fact that most of the students in this town are gone home for the summer.....although, that can still be considered a bad thing, because there are that many less girls around....but at least i can mostly get to/from places in town now without having a damn stroke, or wanting to drag someone out of their car and bludgeon them to death.....slowly.... seriously, i would much rather drive in regular, day-to-day traffic in Houston than in this town when the students (and especially their parents, at the beginning & end of each semester) are in town.
i'm building me a home theater PC out of my former main computer, which will also double as a LAN party box. i'm building it out of what is usually a briefcase-style toolbox, and out of almost entirely regular desktop-sized parts. the only thing that is really specialized to fit in the system is the DVD burner....the extra DVD burner that i have won't really fit (length-wise) in the case, so i had to use a notebook-style DVD burner, with a notebook-to-standard PC-style IDE adapter on the back of it. can't wait to get it all completed and up & running in the living room on my LCD TV (which has a DVI connection on it, so i can use 1:1 pixel-mapping for the best image quality). i'll pretty much be able to get rid of the DVD players in the living room (well, i'll probably keep one of them, for use by someone else when i'm away and have my computer with me), and i'll be able to game, as well as watch videos/play MP3's/stream internet audo & video/etc. from my computer in my bedroom, all in the living room. just need to find me a wireless keyboard/mouse that i like so i don't have cables running all the way across the living room. i won't bother with a TV tuner in it, tho, because i have a DirecTV satellite receiver with Tivo built into it....which is good, because at the moment, i don't have a large enough hard drive for this computer for doing much of any recording/time shifting. check out my pics section for a few photos of the computer as it stands now...i'll upload more when i have more done to it and/or completed.
well, that's pretty much it since my last update, except for the normal day-to-day frustrations of talking to a bunch of complete morons on the phone at work, and wishing i could easily find a less stressful job that's enjoyable and pays the same (or better). sometimes, i really just wish that i could move away from all of so-called "civilization", and not have to worry about anything except myself (and my partner, should i have one at the time)....something like a non-inhabited island somewhere, that isn't very susceptible to hurricanes & such. i probably wouldn't want to live that way for the rest of my life, but i think maybe a year or so would be a nice change of pace for a while, and possibly dissolve away some of the apathy/cynicism i feel towards people in general.
i need some happy pills or something.....
