There seem to be rather alot of "bitching about the site" journals around lately. Dissilusionment of members, anger of some of the girls, talk of people leaving in droves, dissatisfaction with the people who run the site... Frankly I feel rather detatched from it all.
I'm well aware that people ocasiionally get banned for daring to dissent in a manner I'd consider draconian (what the hell is "zotted" supposed to mean anyway? Speak fucking English people!),
But other than that I'm also well aware that this is above and beyond, a business. It might feel like a happy pink fluffy community of like minded people but it's still only here to make money. When hard cash is the bottom line, and people are involving in a financial arrangement (girls getting paid for their sets etc) people are bound to get upset. People are bound to get ruthless and people are bound to have disagreements. That goes for both sides.
All in a days work.
I think alot of people sort of idealise this place and then get rather disapointed when it proves not to be what they think it is. I'm a member principally to keep in touch with friends (I've met in person a considerable proportion of people on my list). I occasionally flick through a set but not often really. I think most people get bored of the sets after a while and remain for the community aspect, and that in turn brings it's own troubles, false impressions of intimacy and closeness, frustration with superfluous friends who don't ever seem to post blah blah blah. Personally I'm not bothered by many of those things, although the "new best friend" syndrome can get a little irritating to watch at times. There are less than a handful of people on my list who I consider to be taking up valuable real estate, and generally they are people who NEVER comment in my journal, and I think if you're reading this you're probably not one of them. Either way, it's not as though my friends list is running off the page and I need to pair it down, so who cares?
Right, that's my potted philosophy of SG for anyone who cares to know!
In other news there is no other news.
