Last night I watched this:
Not exactly what one might call a feel good movie, but superb nonetheless. A lesson to those budding film makers out there too: visually stunning doesn't have to mean polished and glossy- you can still achieve it with scraps of different film stock, and crappy equipment and, oh I don't know, a fucksite of talent!
It's a film about two people, neighbours in Hong Kong circa 1963, who's partners are having an affair. The storytelling is quite ambiguous, leaving much to the imagination about what they're feeling and thinking. You never actually see their partners, creating a real sense of intensity in their relationship, which never fully develops. Beautifully written, full of subtlety and poignancy.
I'm sort of feeling like I need to be distracted by something while going to bed. I'm not really having trouble sleeping, but... meh, no idea what that's all about.
My sink is blocked, and not having a dishwasher this means that I can't cook. Also it means my flat has had dirty dishes piled up for nearly a week. For some reason I find it really hard to be organised and productive unless my (tiny) flat is 90 - 99% tidy. I'm not a cleanfreak, but I don't live like a slob. I work from home but it's only a 1 bedroom flat so I don't have an office or anything. Considering all this I've been quite productive this week and things have been going well business wise. I'm still feeling irritable and discontented though, and it's all the fault of the bloody plumber who took a week to turn up and then refused to touch the bit of hardware that's causing the trouble. Damn him!
Last week I went to see Carina Round with my good friend Leon who I actually met via this site although he's no longer around. I think I fell in love with her a bit. I mean, how can you not fall in love with this:
Anyway, that's about all. Hope you're all doing marvellously well.
