I am beginning to suspect that I actually have very little to say. Maybe everything I need to say is coming out already, in other ways. Who knows?
I do have a house-guest, and I cannot wait for her to leave. I like having my own space and not feeling uncomfortable in my own home, which, invariably, I always do when there is an intrusion into it.
I have finally ironed out my PhD "topic", which is a great cause for relief. And, I have almost finished the first year marking that I had to do. To be honest, I am doing very little else with my time.
On the weekend we went to the football, to Collingwood v. Melbourne. I come from a long line of Collingwood supporters and my partner from a long line of Melbourne supporters, so any opportunity for rivalry of the football kind is most welcome (actually, our teams play each other twice this year, which is great!). Obviously, being a far superior team we (that is, Collingwood) won by just over 50 points. Huzzah!
I am also in the market for a new nemisis. I actually do have a nemisis, she is a girl I go to school with. We did our undergraduate degrees together, though she did her honours in Archaeology and mine was in Classics. She is now a Masters student (in Classics), although she recently downgraded from a PhD (there is a long and somewhat shady story behind the downgrading, which we are not really all that sure about...) My main supervisor used to be her associate supervisor, and the two don't really get along (neither my supervisor with her main supervisor, which is interesting as they are the two most senior academics in our department)...
Well, even though that is only a small fraction of my new-nemisis/old-nemisis story - I have to do and entertain my house-guest...

So you're actively seeking a new nemesis before completely defeating your current? Fucking ambitious, I need at least a 3 month nemesis recovery period before entering the market for new nemeses.
