I'm in the process of putting extensions in my hair, despite your guys' opinions.

I've found sheeps wool in my basement.
I braided it in my hair, then I wrapped it with more wool.
So now I'm going to have wool dreadies.
When it's done I'll take a picture, It's fringing on something cute and a disaster!
It stays very well. The yarn is grey/white-ish.
So this should be interesting.
Hehe, if I wanted to change the color I just look in my basement or go buy a new color of thick wool yarn and wrap wrap wrap.

Here it what it looks like right now:

I plan to do the rest of my head all the way around the back, but not do the top layer so that my natural hair will cover the roots.
Haha I've never seen it done this way on anyone, so I'm hoping it'll look alright.....
