Someone is smiling on me at the moment - they know I'll be spending the next several months in the coldest extended winter of my life, so Melbourne has put on an early taste of summer for me. Either that or they are trying to tempt my brother, who is here on holiday from Scotland, to move back to Australia.
I've finally been able to wear skirts and singlets, sun it up in a bikini, laze on the beach and all that good stuff. I'm such a summer gal... what on earth am I doing leaving all this??! Bah.... he's worth it
This week has been fantastic! With my brother here it means my whole family is together again, first time since Christmas. It's like he's the missing piece - all the family shit from the last few weeks has just disappeared. My social dry spell has taken a seat on the back burner, we've been going out every night, plans for every day. Yay! I love going out drinking with my family.. and I love it when people are so surprised that each of the guys I'm with is my brother! Last night we probably doubled the population of our local pub, pretty dead since it was Wednesday night. I was with 4 brothers, 1 sister, 1 sister-in-law, 1 future sister-in-law, 1 potential future brother in law, and 2 'adopted' brothers (guys who call my parents mum and dad, we're pretty close). It was fun!! Would've been better if i hadn't been designated driver, but that's what happens when you're broke.
I played my first ever game of golf on Tuesday. I am sooo unco, I was expecting to totally embarrass myself, but I was surprisingly not bad. I was impressed Hopefully I'll go out again a few more times before I leave, see if I can be a decent player or if it was just beginners luck. (highly likely) My dad is a fairly decent golfer, but he gets so nervous when he plays in competitions that he always loses. I want to get him some lessons with a pro for Christmas, build up his confidence a bit so he can stay relaxed on the course.
That's usually my trick - I can be pretty good at something, but when it comes to the crunch I totally freeze up, get way too nervous, and screw it. Ah well.
I have school tonight, which means I miss a day down the coast with everyone. Boo. In between beaching and drinking and hanging out, I have been studying my ass off... only 2 weeks of school left and I can't WAIT for it to be over. Hurry up November.
Okay. Homework time.
