Ok, pause, breath, and slow the hell down. Friday night was interesting to say the least. I helped Monique out of a rough spot and hung out with her for a good part of the afternoon. I also met Andrew, her son and she told me about her daughter. I am still in post-Pamela shock and one of the first women I meet is a very strong mother of two. Then I went to the pub for a few drinks with Hanges and Sholle, which was great. Afterwards, however, I locked my keys in my office and slept in the seminar room. I wasnt able to get back into the office till 12:30 today. I went home, went to sleep and now I am writing in my blog. I stayed in all day Saturday; it is bound to be slow uptown... I had dinner with Dave at the Golden Dragon in Hamilton, a Chinese Buffet, at a good price, just full of people from Hamilton Ohio, a scary place to be. It was the most grease I have had in a meal for weeks, and it didnt set well.
I am catching up on some reading today and drafting a paper I have to do, an Aesthetic analysis of a piece of documentary; I am thinking of doing the Hunting of the President it isnt the best piece, but I am saving my longer final paper to be on the disinfo-style of Richard Metzger.
A month from today I will have returned from Amsterdam, hopefully with more of myself with me. This summer I hope to be able to wander North, at least to Oslo or the Stockholm area for a bit. I know part of myself is there. There is something there in the mountains and Fjords of Norway that I need to reconnect with; something in the North-Sea that beats through my veins, and something in that air, and in those long summer days that energizes me. After such a venture I imagine I will be able to face the final 10 months of living in Oxford in a much better way.
SOooooo. Im getting back into my work, I am reading some of Rushkoffs more recent work on the model of renaissance instead of revolution, and it was in Arthur magazine. http://www.arthurmag.com/downloads/arthur15.pdf
