I have been AWOL for some time. I thought that I would update this before the election as the Day of Judgment is on the morrow. The reason I have been absent is that things have improved with Pamela, in fact they have gotten better than ever; there are a few significant issues that remain however, and I will report on those as more becomes clear. I am not really behind in my work, but more unimpelled, that is, I really dont want to do any of it right now. The research assignment I have is horseshit, it may have been an interesting topic of inquiry in the 70s or 80s, but it is just more of the same old historical maintenance of horseshit. The other assignment I have is actually really good, and will help with any classes I may teach in the future.
Right now I am listening to Sigur Ros, I picked up Von from the iTunes store, this is a reissue (perhaps a rerecording) of their first album. This is really good music, there are few bands that make me cry they are so good, Sigur Ros and Secret Chiefs 3.
It should be obvious where I fall in this election; Ann Coulter was in town last week; what a crazy bitch. The scarry thing is how many of the students actually supported her, this campus is incredibly conservative, as one may expect from a student body drawn mostly from the upper class families in Cincinnati. Old White Money. I really cant understand my friends that take a dogmatic political position, a partisan position, drawn labels: liberal conservative Republican Democrat Green Libertarian etc. All methods of identification and of limiting possibilities for subjectivity. Though I must confess that the conservative biases scare me the most; they seem the most resistant to change, to possibility, to becoming, to freedom.
The day after tomorrow will be a significant day in American history, I look forward to seeing it with you.
