Having been some time since my last update, I should refer the reader (you) to my last post. You will note that I have obtained some delightful absinth, and have thus not had the time to keep up this journal (between catching up for classes, etc.) The past few days have been interesting to say the least, last night I was way drunk, but had a blast regardless of a threat from some kid to scalp me; yes I said scalp, he said scalp, my hair seems to be an object of much distain as of late. For example, Pamela in her spree of insults thrown at me mentioned it among other things, I havent seen her since, nor have I spoke to her on the phone, I am forgiving, but I want to maintain a distance right now.
Friday night Jake and I celebrated his new place. I got a head start with about five glasses of absinth, then went to Jakes. We proceeded then to go to Balcony where I finished off the Galliano and Cognac. We did some Latin dancing, with some remarkably beautiful women there. Then traversing a few blocks we arrived at Michaels 21st birthday party, where he was already schloshed. We werent there before too long before some guy started a bunch of shit with me, for no apparent reason, after I had given him and his brother some Warsteiner. I got called everything from a Nazi (for my love of Berlin no doubt) to an open threat at being scalped. For some reason it was after he started in on progressive politics that I got up to challenge his mouth. In which case he did nothing, and was kicked out of the party. Soon thereafter the party itself was shut down; how unfortunate, before I got too properly meet the hosts as well. It is cocksuckers like that who keep Grad/Undergrads from interacting at this university, adding to the overall feeling of alienation. At any rate, Jake and I then went to Mac & Joes before last call, we sat with the General Manger and his son, and I got to talk to an extremely beautiful (yes I said beautiful, not pretty) Senior Art student named Anna. I got her number, rockn, I thought, before the bar closed. Ill see if she wants to get lunch or something this week.
Yet another failed attempt at putting up Dave Dotsons Wasp Sculpture left the brothers with little to do last night, so they came over to sample some Absinth, then we went to three trees for some great (but expensive) food. I went to bed after that; the earliest I have gone to bed on a Saturday in some time. Jake called, wanted me to go out, but I was beat. Pamela called, wanted to talk about her somewhat tramatic evening, but I was too tired to answer the phone, and I got a mysterious and bloced call around 1:30 again I didnt answer.
Today I have an interview with the University Lecture Board. I will be trying to pull as many strings as I can to get Disinfoesque speakers here, Doug Rushkoff is on the top of the list, and I am increasingly thinking of Fiona Horne as a possibility (as well as Joe Coleman, Grant Morrison, Richard Metzger, etc). That is, if I get on the board, which my heart will not be broke if I dont.
Latter this year I will be giving a lecture at the Art Museum, and another for the University Lyceum (a student group interested in bringing about a general rise in the campus discourse). Those will be good experiences, and I do need the practice, I also need to start producing more, I will be doing a bit of work on my GA assignment today, as well as some work for this weeks classes, and some more readings for my paper I am giving in October in Cleveland. Slowly but surely I am building that CV.
