I have not been keeping this thing up, so if you want to read my real blog it is on http://www.livejournal.com/users/ammonius
So there have been some comments that have attributed the Freedom of Information act to Russ Kick that have come to light. CNN, as well as NPR both put the credit where it was due. Actually, you may want to visit thememoryhole.org as Kick just posted the letter that the Air Force (not the Pentagon, as major news outlets have been reporting), sent with the CD of the Pics. If you dont want to bother with reading it, it basically says that the Air Force removed all identifiable tags from the remains in respect to the families of the deceased. This they did in order to be in agreement with the Bush Administrations moratorium on images of coffins coming to public view.
I am trying to move whatever the new PAC project is with R.U. Sirius to being about free information as well. If we the people should have nothing to fear from the Govt. looking into our private lives in order to assure our safety as a people (that is, if your not up to anything than you shouldnt worry), should hold the other way as well, right?
The comments from Michael Moore about Airamericaradio are well founded, however Rushkoffs insight was a bit more to the point:
I tend to judge people and groups more by their media tactics than
their content. It's not a matter of convincing people through one form
of influence or another to do the right thing - it's a matter of
helping people develop the tools and critical faculties they need to
engage in cognition.
Not an easy task, to be sure, but the only side I'd want to be on. Douglas Rushkoff, 04/20/04
I am reading Playing the Future right now, by Rushkoff. It is kind of hopeful, blissful looking future stuff he wrote when he was still with Leary.
Tonight I go back to Washington Court House to Substitute Teach a 7th Grade Science class tomorrow. That should be interesting, I havent been in that building in well over a decade; it will be nice to see what they have done with the place. Had dinner with Josh and Maria last night, always a pleasure to see Hmm anything else? Not right now well see in the is to be
