Back in Columbus, Back to the Waiting Room
This is sort of relaxing, the last few days I have spent between my parents and Oxford Ohio. In Oxford I exposed my eminent return to most of those who would care. Most of them, will of course be welcoming me back. I spoke with Randy about having my old apt. back, but he is thinking about selling the house, in which case he would not be able to help me out; I am to call him at the end of the month, or next month. Failing that, Ill have to find someplace else. I would much rather be within walking distance to campus, than to have to drive everyday, so unless rents are significantly cheaper in College Corner, Ill be staying in Oxford. I know of a few places to check out, if they will rent to me is an entirely different matter.
I saw Dr. Wright and co. as well as Dr. Hanges and Professor McVey; all are doing well. I never seem to be able to hang out with Prof. McVey for a long period of time, though I most certainly wish to, he is an extremely interesting gentleman to be sure. Running into Robinson, who is now bar tending at Pacinkos (perhaps that one time grad student havens only saving grace), he informed me that he is now dating the hottest woman in Oxford. I have personally verified this, as I saw her working at Mac & Joes BEFORE I ran into Robinson. Hopefully, Ill be in much better shape upon my return to Miami (I have A LOT of work to do), so that Ill at least be able to work out without embarrassment there, and go out with a much greater confidence than before. That is, without buying my confidence at that bar.
Helping with Dr. Pappus conference (the 14th annual Congress of Vedanta philosophy), I met some interesting folk. There was a handsome young man from New York who was mistaken on a number of occasions as my brother or my cousin. He had a younger compatriot with him who was equally in awe of the utter beauty of Miamis female students. This too has not changed since my last tenure at that institution. I also met a Philosopher/Accountant named Derek who knows Pappu from a number of years ago and lives not far from me in Clintonville. Perhaps I will meet with him again at some point and venture off into the public academic wonders of Columbus. My stay was in lage part sponsored by the artist Dave Dotson, who let me crash on his couch, and Luke (whose last name always slips my mind) who kept the Beer flowing for a few hours on that first night.
I returned to my parents for a dinner on Sunday, helped with their computer, and retuned to Columbus. Today I am sending off some e-mails, and perhaps hanging out with Melissa. When we spoke earlier we had discussed going for a walk, but the sky in grey in an Ohio way today well see. My roommate is gone this week, so I have my apt. to myself. If I dont go to New York this weekend, then Ill have the place to myself for a few days.
