I tend to think a lot when I'm in the shower. I really love long showers, where you just lean against the side of the shower and let the water run over you. When I was moving I was specifically looking for a place with a boiler room so I would have never ending hot water for just that purpose.
So anyhow last night, I was in the shower. My thoughts always tend to revolve around one or two main themes, which are usually 1: What makes people happy? or 2: What is the purpose of life ( yes, it's cheesy, but it's actually what I think about), or 3: What is the purpose of God, and is that effective?. I don't believe that life was intentional, I think our being on this planet is really the culmination of millions of years of chain reactions resulting in a lot of coincidences, and when something like that happens it's easy to try to put a meaning behind it, like "God, put us here to praise him" or something. So my thought last night revolved around the idea that while I believe in what I just said, If I did believe that there was a meaning to life, or a reason for us to be on this planet it would be this: I believe the purpose of life is to learn about what makes us human. To see and experience love and war, to seek to understand our own joy or sorrow. Surely our purpose for being here could have no tangible goal, and I believe that's been shown through the history of the earth and the creation and destruction that is a part of this world, So the only thing that makes sense is that the purpose is on a higher, deeper level of simply just to seek knowledge. And if that were the case, then how interesting it would be to realize why we experience all the amazing and terrible things that must endure.
Sometimes I think the only goal of being human is to realize that all we are, are humans, another animal on earth. We will die, and things will pass, and the mark we make on this earth is surely insignificant when compared to the stretch of time that has already passed, and so the only goal should be to understand the things that we share this time with.
Anyways.. I had a conversation tonight with someone, and we were talking about the fronts you put on around people you don't know. It's a lot easier to just be funny, or act retarded, or just get drunk than it is to really say what's on your mind, or talk about what you really think about. I am just as guilty as anyone else for that, and even though it's far less entertaining to read someone's journal entry when they're just being real, I decided to do that, and say what's on my mind.
**Update**
So once we got up and everyone aside from me beat their hangovers, we took a trip to the beach which can be sumed up in 2 words:
POOP CASTLES!
This is pretty much what the beach was like all day... perfect.
Happy 4th.. mine was great.
