@missy @rambo So I've missed a lot of these while I wasn't active on the site so I decided to go back a few
I'm am a makeup artist and I make films I've been able to make the transistion to only be doing sfx in a lot of films now which is amazing.
Being apart of film sets has brought me all the joy in the world, from the first moment I waked into my very set I finally felt as though I belong, I had finally found home.
When I was young I was always the weird kid, I as never fit in so when I walked into this set and was sourrounded by like minded people, people who understood it was incredibly comforting and allowed me to open up and be who I am.
Because of these things I've gotten to do some amazing things, I've traveled to the outback of Australia and got to film in the same road that mad max was filmed on, I've gotten to meet wonderful people, people that inspire me every day. I've been able to work with charity's and made films that have connected and touched people all over the world. We've actually received fan mail thanking us for making the films we do and how they have helped them.
I've gotten to be apart of so many peoples story's and help them spread theirs.
But most of all I get to have fun and be creative, it never feels like work, there may be days where I have to sit silently for hours on end with nothing to do but I always love it.
I've been given the freedom to create characters and art work and then show them to the world and that feels amazing.
No it doesn't pay well, and yes I do a lot of free to very cheap work but in the end being able to sit down and watch the result and watch it connect with so many people, makes it all worth it
So what is my favourite thing about my job?
I love that I'm a freelancer, I work for myself. I've made life long friends,I get to be creative and I love that freedom.
