Well... it seems my personal meltdown is coming to an end. Life has not become all sunshine and lollipops, but it has wound down to a managable catastrophy and I'm back to working on my book and playing my flute more. I've recently bought a new mixing console for my now growing mini recording studio. Just need to get a good flute mic, and I begin recording for real. Need to start working on the photography stuff now. Guess I need a new camera... 8mp just doesn't seem to cut it anymore.
Scenes From Outside My Window
Outside my window there is a tree... I'm not sure what kind it is. It has white bark and clustered leaves. There is a hummingbird who comes to sit and bask on it's branches sometimes. She's such a pretty little thing... all green with shimmering irridescent colors. I first noticed her a few years ago as I was meditating at sunrise, pulled out of my trance-state by her cheerful chirps. Always a welcome awakening! Sometimes she would come when I played my flute... singing out counterpoint to my melodies and wind effects (no not belching). The last I saw her was during the rains one day, sitting under a cluster of leaves on the tree... longest I've ever seen a hummingbird sit in one place. That was last November. I've been anxious for her... worrying for her I think. Or maybe worrying that this Spring would pass without experiencing the delight of her. But... as I write this, she is sitting and chirping on a branch just outside my window. My world is aligned now... and for the first time in months, I feel cheery.
A new family has moved in a few doors down. A family of recent Chinese immigrants. For the most part they're fairly nondescript... but a few weeks ago, I saw the elderly grandmother teaching her grandson Chinese writing, marking characters on the parking lot with chalk. He's maybe two... so I don't think he comprehends much yet, but he seems to having fun. I'm not sure how Chinese Calligraphy all over the asphalt is going to fly in this rigidly white neighborhood, but I personally like it. I also like that Grandma occasionally walks through the alley singing Chinese folk songs.... for an old lady, she has a remarkably strong and pretty singing voice.
There's also a couple that moved in a few months ago, living kinda kitty-corner to my room's window. She's a hottie... a cross between a California surfer girl and a Nebraska farm girl. They are admirably prolific lovers, and she is LOUD. Her voice echos throughout the complex. I have found myself putting on the headphones a lot since they moved in... which is hard when it's 3:30 in the morning, and I'm trying to sleep. But they've toned it down a bit, probably because of complaints... probably stemming from the kids in the neighbor hood imitating sex-sounds and screaming "Oh God, Oh God, Oh My Fucking God!" Personally I prefer to hear the sounds of a hot girl in the throws of lovemaking, rather than the constant yelling of the rampaging mini-terrorists this complex calls their children... (mostly knuckle-dragging purile boys).
But... one day recently, when I went to take out the trash, I got a rather disconcerting surprise. Our trash cans are out in the carport, where there are personal storage units (8' wide x 6' deep x 4' high). I noticed the hasp of our unit's door was unlatched (it's empty, no need for a lock)... so I looked in. To my astonishment... there were two 12-13 year old girls, dresses undone and almost off, panties off, hands busy... they were uh, playing. They turned beet-red, as I'm sure did I. I recognized one of the girls as one I had helped get down out a tree she was stuck in, a couple of years ago... fortunately, she broke the pregnant silence. "You're not gonna tell on us, are you?"... "I wouldn't think of it" I replied (be kinda hypocritical, considering the things I was doing at 12 & 13). So I closed the door to just a crack (so they could get air), and went on my way...
Random Notes...
I'm elated to see Pixel, Charm, and Desdemonia have reactivated their accounts. Welcome back ladies... you've all been missed!
Congrats Hexxus on getting into culinary school!
Congrats Dinah on the new job (guess that's old news by now, nonetheless...)!
I've developed a major heart-on for Sook Yin Lee.
I have watched Sucker Punch three times now. Kick-ass movie... and my current favorite.
(Now I know just what it is Vanessa Hudgins does, besides leak phone cam pics.)
Been listening to Collide a lot lately.
Tried smoking spice for awhile (Green Buddha mixed with Cloud 10), since my last pot connection moved.
It is effective if you enjoy total numbness... but it quickly loses it's charm and leaves chronic fatigue. Not recommended. Just starting to come out of the stupor...
K... off to make the rounds.
It may take a few days to get to everyone's new photo sets...

But everyone says it is visually stunning and epic so I will just have to get my ass to the theater soon!
