So...
The new site isn't completely compatable with my browser & OS. For the most part I can navigate & communicate but there are certain functions I haven't been able to access... like changing or adding fave SG's & Friends. Desdemonia & I have been working on this for weeks trying to find something that would work. But it seems if I want to become "fullly funtional" I have to upgrade to a newer version of OS X. I'm not willing to go through the expense & search time to upgrade to OS X right now... I like my OS 9 & so do all of my photographic programs & my music & recording programs. Plus I'd have to get new internet software. So I'm letting things stand as is & accept these limitations until I find more reasons to upgrade. I must admit I'm intrigued with OS X Tiger... but I don't need it yet.
However Des has graciously agreed to rotate my fave SG list & imput fave Friends for me. It is cool to be able to expand my faves to 10 instead of 5 (as with the old site), & include a friend who is not an SG. This list will have to stand for awhile though as I don't think Des would want to do this again without bribery... a box of chocolates perhaps? All girls like that, right?
Thankx again Des!

Now...
The subject has come up as to what properly defines "Alternative Culture". Seems myspace previews upcoming SG sets & people leave comments on them. Seems also there are some self-appointed critics & guardians who take upon themselves the burdon of determining what is or is not "alternative" or who is more alternative than who... hmmm. Seems some of these comments can be kind of venomous too. To any of you guys who are enfatuated with your proficiency with sarcasm... think if were your girlfriend/wife, your sister or your daughter; how would you like them treated & talked to? Think about this please & act accordingly.
But what is it that determines "alternative"... is it the number of piercings?; the number or type of tattoos?; in your face, self-destructive rage?; is it Goth? Punk? Kandy Kids? Hippies?
Question...
Is alternative culture still alternative culture if it becomes confined within a rigid set of criteria?
Is Nena less "alternative" because she has no tatoos or piercings? (who cares, she's hot!). Is Temper "more alternative" because she has a staight forward punk look, tatoos & piercings? (who cares, she's hot!). Or is Luci even more "alternative" because she has more tatoos, more piercings & hangs out with rock-stars? (who cares, she's hot!).
Is alternative culture about a style of dress? Or look?
Is it about sex... the never ending game of oneupsmanship to prove "I am sluttier than thou?" (ok... I'll go for that one).
Is it about being naked? Social & artistic nudity have existed since the dawn of civilizations as subcultures. So are we here at SG permutaions of an alternative culture that has existed for thousands of years? Then there are the wannabes who want to look in but not get there feet wet... or (panties). For them there is the vicarious thrill of the voyeur.
Is it about art? If so, which expression of art is more alternative, which is pedestrian?
Is it about music? Again what music would be considered alternative as opposed to music that is simply marginalized?
Is it an encapsulated paradigm to be packaged & marketed?
Is there a difinitive authority to sanction what deserves the "alternative" label?
Or does "alternative culture" mean something else? Is it a spirit of innovation & originality, exploration & experimentation. Perhaps it is a spirit that expresses into all these subcultures & artistic mediums, but isn't confined by catagories... neither should we be, I think.

hope:
The fact that people on myspace are commenting Sgirls and ONE photo from their set doesn't mean a hell of a lot to me. Sure, I have seen some less than nice comments about my sets going up from some losers on myspace, but who cares. There are members on SG that liked my sets, and that's all that I care about. It's just seems rather pathetic that myspacers are saying what is and isn't SG... I mean, I have my own opinions about the site, and some of the sets that I have seen, but for the most part I think Missy and Sean and the others know what they're doing. Also, alternative is what each person makes of it. We're all different, so just because someone may not have black hair, or may not have tattoos or piercings, it doesn't mean that they don't have an atitude to their lifestyle... but at the same times, I'm still opinionated on certain things, but I keep those things to myself, (a little thing called respect).
