Im home from Europe now, and of course now I have the dose of wanderlust. Its really killing me. Ive started reading about deserts, so Im thinking maybe when I get a chance I can explore some of the US deserts. Fun fun fun! Its still good to be home, though. I travelled alone for a while, but I met a lot of people at...

well, the Galapagos is a family trip... Almalthia's grandfather is many members of the family there for is 80th birthday (he flew 20 or so family members to stay at Villa Petrolo in July 2004 for his 75th). Australia/New Zealand is ma and Alma's 10th anniversary gift (we may try to change that to a backpacking excursion in Ireland/Scotland/UK).

The Siberian trip is all me though. Alma wants nary a thing to do with trekking across a frozen hell on a train for a week. The railroad ticket is the $900-$1100, round trip airfare to and from Moscow is just shy of a grand, and a one way airfare from Vladivostok back to Moscow to catch a return flight is required as well. Will have to talk to an actual travel agent to hook all of that up, but I'm guessing the whole trip to run about 3500 to 4k (per individual) to do it right. Aaaand it probably wouldn't hurt to bring a couple extra pairs of Levis to trade for a little international goodwill. wink And it would probably be less conspicuous to have a female traveling companion too, so I wouldn't say no to company... (hmmm... do they have private, reserved cabins.. I think they do, will have to confirm)

Welcome back home! I'm so glad to hear that you had a wonderful trip. I'm sure you got to see all kinds of amazing art while you were there. I very much look forward to seeing pictures! biggrin

they redid the fucking site again??!! what a horrible thing to come back to!! anyway, im in florence, italy and its beautiful. the company is less than exciting because he doesnt know NYTHING about Xtian history, therefore all of the art in Florence and Rome was lost on him, but Im still enjoying myself. He leaves tomorrow and I have free reign of my plans...

Well the move went fine. My mother's going to be in Wisconsin to receive my stuff for me, and hopefully it should be safe and sound when it gets there. The mover must have a bit of a crush on me, because I gave him my business card and just received an email from him today asking if he could see me before I left....

Hey there new BFF! What an exciting life you have ahead of you! Going to Wisconsin from NYC will certainly be a change... but I am sure you will thrive.

Speaking of NYC, what can you tell me about the Bronx? I have a phone interview with Fordham University in a few mins. and know nothing of NY life.
geekygoo:
Wowzas!! So many big new changes in your life.

Big Congrats on finally becoming a college grad. Big congrats on everything actually.

I hope your trip is fun too. smile

So I'm finally moving today. I hired movers to drag all my shit down 4 flights of stairs, though knowing me I'll still probably end up carrying half of it down because I hate watching people work when I'm not doing much of anything. But yeah, I was SUPPOSED to be moving out on Wednesday.

NOPE!

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I'll tell you why. I...

i love your puppy book. sooo cute. i'm sorry about all the mover crap. that's nuts. did you get your deposit back from the company that hosed you? did your man come help you?

i don't want presents from you. but...i've been thinking about this for a while, and i wonder how you would feel about me commissioning some art from you. i have some things i'd like to have you draw me, so i can have them tattooed on me. i'm dead serious. my bratzilla tattoo is a picture i commissioned from another artist on here, and i kinda of like to use artwork of people whose art i find interesting, exciting, and beautiful.
samling:
there'd be no rush. i'd like to see how you could capture my kitty, sam. and trust me, i waited 2 years for my last artist to do my bratzilla. i'm patient.

Why thank you! biggrin Yeah, I can't help it. She's just so awesome! Plus, it's been a really long time since I've felt something so pure, and I want to hold onto that as long as I can. biggrin

Thanks for the McKean comparison. That's high marks in my book indeed. I'm hoping to do more of that work soon. I miss it. I need to get back out with my camera. I'll see what I can come up with this week.

Oh, and there is definitely a story behind that piece. wink
