I keep seeing these posts on facebook, about having a government that accepts God, or preaches the word of God, and honestly I'm tired of seeing them. Here in America we have this wonderful thing called "the separation of church and state" which allows each citizen to believe in whatever faith THEY CHOOSE. So if you want to believe in Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, etc then you can. If you want to be an atheist you can, or if you're like me you can be agnostic. It's YOUR choice, NOT the governments. The government should not have a say in what faith you choose to believe in. If you want to live in a place where religion is a big deal, and everyone believes in the same faith, then America is not the place for you. I don't want to live in a place where religion is forced upon me even if I do not hold the same beliefs, but I feel as though there are some people out there that do and I don't care for those people. I have respect for every persons beliefs. Most people have reasons for believing and having faith the way that they do, and I respect that. I do not, however, respect those who try to force their beliefs onto others, or those who put down others peoples beliefs because they do not match their own.
I am agnostic. I don't know what awaits me after death. Is there a God? I don't know, I'd like to believe there is. I'd like to believe there is a paradise where all of my family members who have past are waiting for me. But I don't know for sure. My philosophy is, I'll find out when the time comes, for now I'm going to live my life to the fullest. I'm going to be a good person, not because I want to get into heaven, but because it is the right thing to do and that's just who I am.
