Post-vacation update! So we had our akiyasumi or fall break last week. I hit up Kyoto, Nara, Himeji Castle, and Hiroshima. Wow! I'm exhausted. I took approximately 400-500 pictures. My travel buddy, Rachel, probably took closer to 1000. It's ridiculous. My favorite thing was probably Himeji Castle, because more or less the whole castle grounds were preserved (most of the castles are JUST the castle, not the whole grounds), followed by the Inari shrine outside of Kyoto, which has a loooong line of torii gates (the orange/stone gates that you often find in front of shinto shrines) that goes all the way up a mountain! We thought it'd just be a nice morning jaunt, but it ended up being a 2-3 hour HIKE. But it was awesome, and really peaceful. So if you're ever in the area, check those things out.
Unfortunately, traveling in Japan is hella expensive. Between hostels, food, transportation, and entry fees along with the occasional omiyage (souvenir) I easily blew through $300. Yuck. Not cool. But, I didn't really have a choice. So I'm gonna be pullin the poor person's diet for the next few days until I can get some money tossed to me.
That's about it. I'd post all the pictures here but honestly, there's way too many. So feel free to peruse my photobucket (it's here!) and look under Senshu for all my crazy Japan pictures. See ya soon.
