Yay! It's Friday! Of course, since it's the summer and I work a job with funky hours, this means almost nothing to me. If it weren't for the fact that my lovely boy works M-F job (but he works evenings which works out great since we can sleep in, go out as soon as he gets off work, and stay up late) it wouldn't mean anything.
Things are falling into place for Japan. Unfortunately, they sent my gignant-o packet of information to my mom instead of to me because it's nearly impossible to change your address through the school. For some reason, it's not something you can do online. I find this very silly since college students tend to change addresses at least once a year, more like 3. It does me no good for them to mail stuff to my mom 2 hours away when I live FIVE MINUTES from campus. I can walk there if I really wanted, which I don't. In any case, that has a lot of the paperwork I need to fill out and oh by the way, they need my $500 deposit by the first of July. Yeah, more than a week's notice of the payment plan would've been awesome. But whatever, I knew I'd have to fight with the school over all this crap because I had to go through the same thing for Mexico. I need to meet with a financial advisor to see which scholarships of mine will do what, though it's likely she'll say that the school will handle everything. I also need to reinstate mom's power of attorney, in case I die or whathaveyou. But at least I don't have to worry about all the stupid credit transfer shit this time. (When I went to Mexico, the credits I took were for classes that I really needed to finish my major.) I can have 17 sweet Japn 399 independent study credits cause I am going for shits and giggles, essentially.
Other than that, been working a little. Yesterday I managed to freak myself out throughout the night since I had to work at 10:30 (I normally wake up around 1:30 pm) and I was totally paranoid that I'd sleep through my alarm which I have NEVER done in 21 years, so. I slept like crap, and then was really whiny about working a whole THREE HOURS. This might seem silly but you have to remember that with the exception of a 10 hour Saturday about a month ago, I haven't worked more than an hour at a time, 2 times per week max, since the middle of April. Yeah. But it was really easy, as all I had to do was let people into the bathroom, giving them a pee cup if they were on collection. Only 7 guys were on collection but a few of them went 2 or 3 times while I was down there. Yeesh. But one of the regular study participants came over and chilled with me, and that makes the time go a lot faster. Today I have what we call 'check luggage'. Basically, people are staying for however long and we need to make sure they're not bringing in any other sort of drugs (OTC or prescription, even mild painkillers aren't allowed) that may interact with the study drug, no cigarettes, that sort of thing. I don't really like checking luggage cause I have to wear gloves and they make my hands feel gross, and the rules on what we do and don't allow sometimes are kinda wishywashy. Like sometimes I've been told people can't have whitening toothpaste, and others have told me they can. Same with spray deodorant. I dunno. I just make sure there's none of the big things and call it good, but it sucks to repack someone's stuff when they think that 3 days of stay in a confined facility means they need to bring their entire wardrobe. I like the guys who realize they're going to be doing nothing all day, and so bring a t-shirt, a hoodie, sweatpants, some shoes, a towel, and their shower stuff. Maybe a book or their laptop or ipod. They make my job so much easier.
Other than that? Been having a rather uneventful week. Didn't go out on Tuesday as usual since the boyfriend had a headache and didn't want to go out, and the friends I was going to meet there weren't going to be there either, so what was the point of going? Wednesday night I did go out, however, and enjoyed a lovely evening of drinking. The only problem with BW3s is that it closes at midnight, not 1, so I wasn't even tired when I got home. But I did make the mistake of texting Davin half the night and then eating cheetos while doing so, effectively eating half the bag. Ow. Thursday I worked in the morning, then went over to his house last night. We watched Lady in the Water. It was um... interesting. I liked it okay and would choose it over many other movies, but I wouldn't pick it for myself. Davin didn't really like it at all. After that we enjoyed doing things that couples do, and ended up staying up til sometime past 5 (maybe even 5:30) talking so that was good. I'm very happy with things in my life right now.
But for now, I just finished lunch (breakfast?) and am thinkin of taking a short nap before work even though I got up about 2 hours ago and wasn't tired when I got up. I have some friends getting married tomorrow (one of them is from elementary school, weird!) and I'm really excited since most of my friends are scattered, either being home for the summer or just having graduated college, and I don't really have a core group of friends in Lincoln like Davin does, though in retrospect they're all his high school buddies from Wayne. So. I just need to figure out what to wear. I think I'm gonna rewear the dress I wore for Sam and Sarah's wedding but it needs to be washed. You can hand/spot wash dry-clean only stuff, right? I sure hope so. I don't have any febreeze. And this particular group of friends is rather dorky and peculiar (we're the honors dorm kids) so we'll see what happens. Especially if alcohol is involved. So be on the lookout for a wedding update sometime on Monday or later. Yaaay.
