The last bit of my spring break was pretty much fuckin awesome. I worked a bit on St. Patty's Day, but only a few hours here and there. My job is very strange in that we don't really have shifts like other jobs. We have what are called 'events' and you might have to only go in for one event, or you might be there for 10. The time it takes to do the event depends on the study (I work in a pharmaceutical testing facility, so when we do a test on a group of people, that's a study) but generally take about 30-45 minutes on average with some downtime in between. On busy days, you don't get that downtime which really sucks, but that's just part and parcel of the job. In any case, I only had 4 events (3 in the morning, 1 at night) on Saturday. I hung out with my boyfriend in between events, but we mostly just slept and watched tv. After my second set, I swung by my boy's place and we headed to a local show featuring our friends in Good With Guns, though we only caught the last part of their show. We hung out at the bar during the 2nd band who, from what I heard, sounded pretty good. Maybe I'll look them up on myspace. We stayed for about half of the last band, The Killigans. If you're in any sort of punkish scene in the Lincoln area, you've probably heard of The Killigans. They're along the lines of Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys. Either way, they play a damn good live show. I was pretty fucked (the joys of knowing people who know people; in this case, the bartenders) thanks to a couple long island iced teas that were all long island and no ice tea. They were pretty much pure liquor and that makes me a happy girl. Anyway, the crowd got pretty rowdy and as usual, I found myself in the middle of the pit. I don't mind being in the pit but my eyebrow ring was at stake and it is finally, FINALLY (I've had it since October) healing up to the point of being an uninfected, non-red painful mess. I didn't want it ripped out. My solution? Get out of the pit, say 'I'm tired of this, let's get amigos!' So we did.
I spent all day Sunday lounging around with said boy. We played a lot of dynasty warriors 3 which, for the record, is my favorite video game of all time. And by 'a lot' I'm going to make a conservative guess of at least 6 hours of playtime. We watched Amores Perros, porque yo hablo espaol tambin (el habla poquito). It's a great Mexican film about.. well, all sorts of things. But it's very well done, if you don't mind reading subtitles or can speak Spanish, though the first part was really hard to understand between all the 'puta madre's and the 'chinga tu madre's and 'pendejo's. So my gutter Spanish isn't so great; I was only there for 6 weeks and my dirty word hookup was too busy hooking up with my friend. Oh well. The other parts weren't so bad, though.
Other than that? We napped. We watched tv. We ate cookies. We were the laziest people on the face of the planet cause hell, we didn't even get dressed. Now THAT is a good day for me. Unfortunately, I'm paying for it today with the mounds of housework and homework to do, but oh well. It'd help if my roommate, who is also my ex-boyfriend, would clean up sometimes. But he doesn't. So my apartment smells like a shitheap. Great. I suppose I'll go take care of it, eventually. Only 2 more months until I am out of here...
