I can't stand to have that sad blog up after a few hours of apartment hunting.
I found the CUTEST place in Mayer, AZ for about $400 a month but that includes ALL utilities. Half an hour to the nearest superstore. Getting hired somewhere will be an issue, seeing as its a teeny tiny little town. I also don't know how the locals will react to two girls sharing a studio/one bedroom.
I also found great places in Omaha and Davenport. I'm facing an issue with the leasing companies requiring employment history. I can prove a consistant income for the last 2 years but I don't think that will work. Even though I WANT to get a job AFTER I move.... no one wants me even though I have the money. Some places I can barely afford the rent a bit of food but I can make it work.
Why is it so hard to find a place to live even when you make 2x the rent?!
Hopefully the place in Mayer is still open and I can get some more info. Cross your fingers. Denver just seems too pricey and too big. I need to leave.
I can do better than this.

I love the southwest side of Prescott along with downtown near Whiskey Row. I hate Prescott Valley, but if it got you here temporarily, it's totally liveable, just flat and really developed.
If you want any help and as I lived in the Verde Valley/Jerome area, I can put a call out to my friends and see where some great places to live are. I'm sure you have already but also check Craigslist because a lot of us here in N.AZ use that to rent out houses/apts/rooms instead of apartment finders.
What type of work are you looking for? Have you considered Flagstaff and working your way down to the VV/Prescott area? LOTS of possibilities here, and I have several friends that end up here and go down to Prescott or start there and end up here.
The Sundogs aren't that far from Flag if you know the right way to go
Edited to add: it will be kinda small for more than one person, but we have a room in our house opening up in May. We have two cats and a dog that all love each other, so more animals aren't a problem (big backyard for the dog). It could be temporary as we don't do leases/security deposits. JUST an idea...I can send you photos. It would give you a launching point to find work/apartment/house you really want.
Even if you wanted to venture down for a weekend to see places IN person. I don't work weekends and would be happy to serve as a guide. I'd love to get back down to Prescott/VV/Jerome anyway. No pressure, but just thought I'd offer. I know how hard it is to look at places to live from a distance. I wish I had been able to see places in AZ when I was looking from back in Michigan.
You're living somewhere and paying now, right? That simple history/reference should be enough.
