Sanity is not as easy to define as doctors like to believe, @alwyn. Indeed, "Sane" and "Insane" are just labels like "dark" and "light." If a doctor observes symptoms of "darkness" in you, he/she might diagnose you with "Darkness Disorder" without being aware that you are a light being who happens to understand the darkness.

@jacinto2 I think it is a process of imagination and triggering of visual stimulation. 

But on alien life I guess some aliens could exist in very strange ways yet for us to acknowledge existence then yes other wise it would be put down to a quantum phenomenon
